Quick Organizing Tips For The Beach

Spending some time at the Jersey Shore this weekend with friends, I broke the Golden Rule of Beach Drinks: I forgot to freeze the water bottle I planned to drink all day to keep cool.  As any East Coaster can tell you, the past few weeks in these parts have been brutally hot and after an hour sitting in the scorching sand my water bottle was "humid," after 3 hours it was suffering from extreme heat exhaustion. Always freeze your water before hitting the beach.

More Beach Organization Tips:

  • Apply sunscreen before you get out of the shower as moist skin will adsorb the cream more evenly.
  • If you don't plan to bathe before hitting the beach, apply your SPF before putting on your bathing suit to cut down on burn lines around your suit.
  • Bing a cooler and freeze fruit like strawberries and peach slices for snacks and swap frozen water bottles for your cooler's usual ice packs to maximize space.
  • Soak your bathing suit immediately post-beach with some gentle shampoo.  Bathing suits are intricate creations and often very expensive. Learn how to launder them properly (see: How to Wash a Swimsuit).
