There are many organizing myths that serve as obstacles that prevent us from getting organized. As a result, we keep putting off getting organized. Uncovering these myths will help motivate you to start getting organized once and for all.

  • I have too many things:
The truth is, you will only accumulate more things if you don't clear out the clutter. Regardless of the amount of items that you have, you can always get organized, and you should before it grows and becomes even more unmanageable.

  • I don’t have the money:
The truth is, you don't need a lot of money to get organized. For example, I have organized my jewelry with dixie cups. Another budget-friendly idea is to recycle existing items to use them for alternative storage options.

  • I don’t have the time:
The truth is, you actually gain more time by being organized. Disorganization is a time waster. You waste time searching for things, remembering things, missing appointments and having to reschedule, the list goes on.

  • I don’t know where to start:
With any new project, it can be overwhelming when determining where to start. The fact is, whether you have many things to get organized or only a few, the best place to start is the area that is causing you the most distress. It is also helpful to take baby steps and try to not tackle everything at once which can make you feel more overwhelmed and discourage you from continuing.

  • I don’t have enough space:
The fact is, you will only lose more space if you put off getting organized because the clutter will accumulate. Clearing out the clutter is the first step to creating more space. Afterwards, you can consider using existing furniture items for you storage needs or utilize the wall space for shelving units.
