However, once in awhile I get an email about an intriguing product and I have to check it out. This month, right in time for a week on organizing the living room, it’s the Eureka Airspeed One Turbo.
I know it’s going to sound dramatic, but I absolutely love (lik, life-changing love this vacuum, and here’s why:
Useful on all floor surfaces
1. Carpeting is expensive, and not an investment I want to make for a temporary living situation.
2. I grew up in an old house, and I just really like the way hardwood floors look and feel. It feels old-fashioned and stately. But, it's hard to find a vacuum that works well on hardwood floors and area rugs. This vacuum has settings for bare floor, deep carpet and low carpet, so I can use it directly on my wood floors, on the area rugs, and it has an attachments to use on couches and on drapes.
Small, but mighty powerful
I have never used a vacuum that’s done such a good job on my area rugs. I have a black, round carpet that really shows dust, and tiny objects. The Eureka cleaned it so well I was stunned. It looked brand new when I was done.
When I tried the deep carpet setting on my bathmat (a thick, teal rug) it almost ate the carpet it was so powerful.
In fact, it’s so powerful I’m afraid to even use it on drapes for fear it may pull down the drapes, the sheers and the hardware on the window holding them up. On the other hand, it did a fantastic job on my light-blue couch.
Lightweight, so I am more apt to use it
It’s very lightweight, weighing on 9 pounds, so it’s easy to move around, and it’s thin and takes up very little room in my closet. The other upside? If you don’t have room to store a vacuum in a closet -- something I dealt with for years when I lived in tiny apartments in New York City -- it’s attractive enough to store in a room if you have no behind-closed-doors storage space.
Only downside: it’s noisy. Very, very noisy. Since I live in a multi-family home, I try to only use it on weekends after 10 a.m. and before 10 p.m., or weeknights between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. But that is typically when I do most of my vacuuming anyway. Frankly, I always read about the volume of vacuums in reviews and I don't get why it is such a big deal.
It does not take bags, so you have to clean the filter. This is a personal preference, but I much prefer to this having to buy filter bags. Finally, right now, it's only available at Walmart, but according to the manufacturer, it should soon be available from more retailers. Disclosure: Eureka provided me with an AirSpeed ONE to review. All opinions are my own. More:
