Time Management Q & A

Question: Time Management Q & A

Question:
My husband and I live in the house that he grew up in and we have a lifetime’s worth of stuff around the house from four other people who no longer live there. My own stuff is still in the garage from two years ago. I would like to have at least one room that doesn’t feel packed full of clutter. We work long hours, six or seven days a week, so our motivation by the time we get home is very minimal. Better time management would probably help. I know there is more time in the day than I am using currently. I might be able to get more done if I were more organized.

Answer: Lack of time is a common obstacle that prevents us from getting organized because when we do find the free time, the last thing we want to do is spend it on something that we consider less enjoyable, right? That being said, you have expressed a desire to get organized, and that truly is the first step to becoming organized. The second step is that you have to make the time to get organized, even if it is only 15-30 minutes a day. Consider this:
  • You lose time by being disorganized. Sorting through clutter is time-consuming.
  • You will gain time by being organized and not having to sort through clutter.
  • Our lives are only getting busier, so there is no time like the present to start tackling our clutter.
  • Clutter doesn't magically disappear, it will only accumulate if you don't start dealing with it.

So what are you waiting for? tomorrow? next week? or next month? Make the time today to get organized. Even if you can only start with fifteen minutes a day, isn't that better than nothing? Yes! Start Today!
